What is the Advisory Council?
The SafeWork NSW Advisory Council, established under the Work Health and Safety Amendment (Standalone Regulator) Act 2025, seeks to provide key stakeholders with a stronger voice.
It aims to ensure that SafeWork, as the regulator for work health and safety in NSW, hears and considers the diverse perspectives of workers, employers, experts, and people with lived experience when setting its strategic direction and priorities.
Membership
The SafeWork Advisory Council will meet every two (2) months with the potential for out-of-session discussions or attendance at events when required.
Members will be Ministerially appointed and will hold office on a part-time basis for a term not exceeding three (3) years.
Members will be remunerated at a rate of $10,000 per annum (Chairperson) or $5,000 per annum (all other members) in accordance with the classification of the SafeWork Advisory Council as a C2-I entity under the Public Service Commission Classification and Remuneration Framework for NSW Boards & Committees.
