High risk workplaces and repeat offenders program
SafeWork NSW has established the high risk workplaces and repeat offenders program. The program will identify duty holders with elevated risk profiles that are considered most in need of regulatory oversight and intervention.
Safework NSW will engage with duty holders to:
- monitor and enforce compliance with the WHS Act
- secure the ongoing health and safety of workers and workplaces.
The program is key to SafeWork NSW’s broader strategy to reduce workplace injuries and fatalities across NSW. It aims to drive sustained improvements in work health and safety outcomes through regulatory oversight and targeted intervention actions.
The program seeks to:
- secure safe and healthy workplaces where risk is eliminated or minimised to the greatest extent possible
- achieve sustained improvement in safety culture, compliance, and commitment
- provide a transparent framework for regulatory actions.
The program aligns with the National compliance and enforcement policy and supports a risk-based approach to regulation to ensure compliance efforts are proportionate, targeted and effective.
