On 14 October 2016, a worker in Dubbo suffered a deep laceration to his hand when his clothing became caught on, and he was drawn into an unguarded rotating shaft of a chaff cutting machine.
After a SafeWork NSW investigation, the defendant, Macquarie Milling Co Pty Ltd, was charged with a breach of section 32/19(1) of the Work health and Safety Act 2011.
On 10 April 2019, the defendant was convicted by the District Court and fined $180,000.
