Plant registration – privacy collection notice
SafeWork NSW, an agency of the Department of Customer Service gives priority to protecting the privacy of your personal information. We do this by handling personal information in a responsible manner and in accordance with the Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1998 (PPIP Act).
The personal information you provide in the application will be collected and held by SafeWork NSW. Service NSW may act as a shopfront for us and perform transactions on our behalf. Service NSW may collect and hold your personal information as part of the application process.

We are collecting your personal information, or personal information of the proposed authority holder you are authorised to represent for the following purposes:
- For determining an application to register the design of an item of a plant, to register the alteration(s) to a design of an item of a plant or to register or renew an item of plant in accordance with the Work Health and Safety Regulation 2017.
- For internal administrative purposes, including liaising with you, or the proposed authority holder in relation to the application or registration.
- We may create a customer profile for you and/ or the proposed authority holder on our digital platform, or update an existing customer profile, if one already exists. This profile may include information such as name, contact details (phone number and email address), address, date of birth and ABN/ACN or ARBN (if applicable).
The consequence of not providing personal information is that we will be unable to process and determine your application.
We may use the personal information contained in the application to confirm details if any subsequent applications are made in relation to any licence or authority issued by SafeWork NSW. We may also use it to administer/update our customer database including to send information that we consider important.
If required, we may make enquiries and exchange information with other NSW government agencies (including the NSW Police Force), or other States, Territories and/or the Commonwealth for the purpose of assessing your application and for compliance purposes. We may disclose personal information for these purposes.
