New training requirements for demolition supervisors
In November 2024, we publicly consulted on the Have Your Say website about proposed changes to training for demolition supervisors. The goal was to improve safety outcomes.
We have updated the units of competency (UoC) based on your feedback and our discussions. These changes will begin on 1 July, 2025.

What are the new units of competency?
You need to complete 10 units of competency to apply for the demolition supervisor role. See the table below for details.

Which units of competency have been removed?
Based on the outcomes of the consultation, this Table below shows which UoC have been removed.

When do the changes come into effect?
The changes will come into effect on 1 July 2025.
What does this mean for existing demolition supervisors?
Current demolition supervisors on a demolition licence will not be required to complete any new or additional units of competency.
What if you’ve done all the units to be a demolition supervisor, but you haven’t applied yet?
If applicants finish the current 11 UoC by 1 July, 2025, they can apply to be a demolition supervisor by 30, June, 2026. In this case, you will not be required to complete the additional units of competency.
