Explosives authorisations
Apply for an explosives authorisation in NSW, amend an existing authorisation, or seek approval to dispose of or continue using expired explosives.
SafeWork NSW authorises explosives in NSW. It is an offence to handle an explosive that is not authorised.
You must include complete and accurate information in your application to allow SafeWork NSW to assess the request. Incomplete applications may delay processing.
Apply for or amend an explosives authorisation
An explosive must be authorised before it is imported or handled in NSW.
Use the Explosives application form (PDF, 186.94 KB) to apply for or amend the authorisation of any explosive under the NSW Explosives legislation. This includes requests for new authorisations as well as changes to an existing authorised explosive.
Apply to manage expired explosives
Use the Application for expired explosives form (PDF, 595.83 KB) to apply for authorisation to manage expired exlosives. This includes approval for disposal or, where appropriate, approval for ongoing use.
