Explosives authorisations
SafeWork NSW authorises explosives as required by the NSW Explosives legislation. It is an offence to handle an explosive that is not authorised.
The forms below are used to apply for a new authorisation or to amend an existing authorisation, and to seek approval for the disposal or ongoing use of expired explosives. Each application must include complete and accurate information to allow SafeWork NSW to assess the request. Incomplete applications may delay processing.

Explosives authorisation application
Use this form to apply for or amend the authorisation of any explosive under the NSW Explosives legislation. This includes requests for new authorisations as well as changes to an existing authorised explosive.
New or changed explosives must not be imported or otherwise handled before authorisation has been granted by SafeWork NSW.
Expired explosives authorisation application
Use this form to apply for authorisation to manage expired explosives. This includes approval for disposal or, where appropriate, approval for ongoing use.
Applicants must not handle expired explosives unless authorisation has been granted by SafeWork NSW.
