On 15 November 2018, a 3rd year mechanic sustained serious facial burns and injury to the left eye when a flash of petrol vapours ignited from a metal petrol tank she was hot soldering, at Bega.
After a SafeWork NSW investigation, the defendant, Finnerty Automotive Pty Ltd, was charged with a breach of section 32/19(1) of the Work Health and Safety Act 2011.
On 24 February 2021, the defendant was convicted by the Bega Local Court and fined $15,000.

Between 7 February 2018 and 24 November 2018, the defendant undertook high risk work in dogging, basic and intermediate rigging, and boom-type elevating work platform at various locations without holding a high risk work licence in these classes.
After a SafeWork NSW investigation, the defendant, Damien Anderson, was charged with 16 offences pursuant to section 43(1) of the Work Health and Safety Act 2011.
On 23 February 2021, the defendant was convicted by the Local Court and fined a total amount of $20,900 for the 16 offences.
