SafeWork NSW is coming to the New England later this month to host two events for local farmers and businesses.
A Farm Safety Day will be held on Wednesday, 24 February at Jeogla Station east of Armidale which features NSW Farmers, the Country Women’s Association, Local Lands Services and the Department of Primary Industries.
Local farmers and farm workers will be able to receive advice on how to incorporate work, health and safety innovation into farm management practices and witness practical demonstrations on quad bike safety, working with livestock and horses, child safety and working with agricultural chemicals.
A Safer Communities, Safer Towns event will be held the following day at Walcha on Thursday, 25 February to help businesses and workers be safer.
SafeWork NSW Tamworth District Coordinator, John Ringland said the events were part of SafeWork NSW’s efforts to support regional communities.
“Farmers and small businesses in regional towns face many challenges and by bringing our inspectors and farming industry groups to them, we can help tailor health and safety solutions to their workplaces,” Mr Ringland said.
“Attendees at the Farm Safety Day and Safer Communities, Safer Towns events can receive advice on work health and safety, workers compensation, injury management and recover at work programs as well as learn about the free services and resources that are available.
“Farmers and businesses that attend may also be eligible for a rebate of up to $500 through SafeWork’s Small Business Rebate Program which can be used to purchase and install safety improvements.”
The Farm Safety Day will be held from 10am – 3pm on Wednesday, 24 February at Jeogla Station. The Station is located two kilometres east of Wollomombi township on Kempsey Road. To get there, turn right off Armidale Ebor Road and continue for approximately 10 kilometres down Kempsey Road.
