What’s happened

Here’s what we’ve done so far to support you and other employers, managers and workers in NSW to create mentally healthy workplaces.

2018

October

Website launched – to provide access to prevention-focused, practical guidance, and evidence-informed tools and resources.

June

Strategy – the NSW Government committed to a $55M investment in the NSW mentally healthy workplaces strategy 2018-2022, and began implementing the strategy.

2017

November

The summit – over 100 stakeholders attended a mentally healthy workplaces summit. They discussed the research and leading national and international approaches, and participated in workshops to co-design the strategy. Participants included local and international workplace mental health experts, people with lived experience of mental illness, industry and employer representatives, unions, workers compensation regulators and insurers, mental health practitioners and advocates.

October

Benchmarking tool – we developed this tool to measure the capability of NSW businesses to provide mentally healthy workplaces, and track improvements over time.

June

Research – experts reviewed the research for workplace mental health risks, issues and interventions, and to calculate the returns to business for investing in workplace mental health.
