The ‘Quad bikes are not toys – keep kids safe’ competition (the competition) is conducted by SafeWork NSW. Entry is open to children residing in NSW and attending primary or high school.

Competition content

Entries must be the original work of the entrant. Entries will be deemed void if stolen, forged, mutilated or tampered with in any way. Entries must not contain any material that is unsafe, defamatory, discriminating, obscene, indecent, harassing, or threatening or is otherwise unlawful. Any entry that  is deemed by SafeWork NSW to be offensive, discriminatory, defamatory, obscene, indecent, harassing, threatening or unsafe will immediately be disqualified from entering the Competition. Entrants warrant that their entry in the competition does not breach the intellectual property rights of any third party. The Entrant indemnifies and will keep SafeWork NSW and its associated agencies indemnified against any loss, costs (including legal costs), expenses or liability SafeWork NSW and its associated agencies may suffer arising out of a breach by the Entrant of this clause.

Entry form

Entrants must complete all of the required information on the entry form and submit this with their entry for valid entry into this competition.

Parental/Guardian consent

Parents/Guardians must agree to allow their child to enter the competition. For photo or video entries, should the entry depict, other children under 16, the Entrant must seek parental/guardian permission for each child to appear in the entry.


Winners will be notified by email, phone or in writing within one week of the competition judging on 16 November 2018. Gift cards will be sent to the winners by express post following the announcement. The parent and/or guardian agrees their child’s name, school year and school name will be published in the calendar, or other material.


A winner will be chosen from each school year group (Kindergarten – Year 10) for either a poster or photo entry. Four winning video entries will also be chosen. The winning photo and poster entries will be published in a 2019 SafeWork NSW ‘Quad bikes are not toys – keep kids safe’ calendar and showcased on the SafeWork NSW website. The four winning video entries will be used as education resources to teach primary and high school students about quad bike safety. The 15 winners will each receive a $100 Coles Myer Group gift card. Total prize pool is $1500.


Entries will be judged by three judges, two from SafeWork NSW and a third independent of SafeWork NSW. Entries will be judged based on their creativity and their ability to convey one of the four quad bike safety messages. The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered in to.


SafeWork NSW takes no responsibility for any loss or damage to any entry while in its custody or in transit.

Return of entries

Originals of entries will only be returned if the entrant includes a stamped self-addressed envelope (poster envelopes should be A4, USB envelopes should be large and with sufficient postage to send the USB). After 31 December 2018 SafeWork NSW may destroy or dispose of or otherwise use any of the entries received.

Licensing entries

All entrants grant SafeWork NSW non-exclusive rights to reproduce their entries in material form, to photo, publish and/or communicate to the public and anything incidental to such purposes, by SafeWork NSW. SafeWork NSW will attribute the entrants as the author of the work and reproduce the work in full. Details of the work may be used at SafeWork NSW’s discretion.


Employees of SafeWork NSW and their immediate families as well as employees and the immediate families of any external judges are not eligible to enter. Immediate family includes children, stepchildren, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, siblings and step-siblings.
