Here are some of the reasons why:

NSW house construction industry employs 44,000 people and is growing.

12% of workers compensation claims result in permanent disability - more than double the NSW average

60% of claims require more than five days off work, well above the NSW average of 35%

Fingers, lower back and knee injuries are the most common within the industry.

Almost 1 in 10 claims are for injuries that result in more than six months off work

Carpenters and joiners are often responsible for many different tasks and account for 45% of claims
