WorkCover NSW has extended the closing date calling for businesses across the state to enter in the 2015 WorkCover NSW SafeWork Awards.

WorkCover CEO Vivek Bhatia said a new video has also been produced to provide advice and help people in submitting their entries.

“This year the awards are easier than ever as the process is online, there are only four questions to answer and you only need to write 200 words for each question,” Mr Bhatia said.

“To help people even further, we’ve developed a video that provides some general tips and advice.”

The annual awards, now in their 12th year, are the perfect opportunity for businesses to share their safety achievements with industry peers.

“The Awards acknowledge businesses and individuals making positive changes to their workplace and are the perfect platform to highlight how innovation and forward thinking have contributed to improving safety and injury management outcomes,” Mr Bhatia said.

“They also identify successful return to work initiatives for businesses as well as the personal achievements of individuals who have suffered an injury on the job and successfully overcome it.”

This year the Awards have a new category, which recognises all-round excellence in work health and safety, workers compensation and return to work.

“I hope businesses and individuals alike will take this opportunity to acknowledge positive changes they have made, or initiatives they have implemented, to help improve workplace health and safety and return to work,” Mr Bhatia said.

“Businesses, individuals and organisations can showcase their leadership in diminishing injury rates and adopting new standards of workplace safety.”
