More than 100 NSW businesses have pledged to provide a healthy and safe workplace through SafeWork NSW’s innovative Safety Promise program.

The program involves businesses going online and making a promise to ensure the health and safety of everyone in the workplace.

National construction company, Lanskey Constructions, was one of the first companies to make the promise, saying it reflects its commitment to improved health and safety across the business.

“Lanskey Constructions is committed to minimising risks to the health, safety, wellbeing and stress of workers, so that no task or operation puts a person at risk of harm or illness,” Lanskey Constructions General Manager, Garth Hugo said.

“The Safety Promise reflects the key objective of our project safety systems and processes - to ensure everyone returns home from work safely, every day."

To encourage more businesses to make a Safety Promise, SafeWork NSW has today launched a digital campaign targeting small-medium sized businesses, their workers and families through sites like Facebook and Google.

Executive Director of SafeWork NSW Specialist Services, Andrew Gavrielatos said the Safety Promise allowed NSW businesses to demonstrate their commitment to a healthier, safer, and more productive workplace.

“The program involves businesses talking to their workers about how to build a better safety culture, making their pledge online, and turning those words into actions to ensure the health and safety of everyone in the workplace,” Mr Gavrielatos said.

“More than 100 businesses have already made a Safety Promise, and this campaign encourages more businesses to go online and make the commitment.”

Every Safety Promise is published online at www.safetystartswithyou.nsw.gov.au Businesses that complete a promise receive free digital collateral to demonstrate their safety commitment, including a poster, counter card, web tile, and social media tiles.
