Between 12 December 2020 and 13 January 2021, inspectors conducted various site visits at a construction site and observed number of serious risks relating to overhead powerlines, falling objects, traffic control, site security and other issues.
After a SafeWork NSW investigation Mr Omar Abdul-Rahman, was charged with 2 breaches of section 33/27(1), Section 190 and section 188 of the Work Health and Safety Act 2011.
On 28 February 2024 the defendant was convicted by the Downing Centre Local Court was fined $13,500.
Jet Express Plumbing Maintenance Pty Ltd

After a SafeWork NSW investigation Jet Express Plumbing Maintenance Pty Ltd, was charged with breaches of Clause 166(1), Clause 298(1), 2 breaches of Clause 197 of the Work Health and Safety Regulation 2017, and 3 breaches of Section 33/19(1), 2 breaches of Section 32/19(1) and Section 43(2) of the Work Health and Safety Act 2011.
On 28 February 2024 the defendant was convicted by the Downing Centre Local Court and fined a total of $110,500.
James Rule

In September 2020, a SafeWork NSW accredited assessor failed to comply with the conditions of his authorisation.
After a SafeWork NSW investigation the defendant, James Rule, was charged with 5 breaches of Section 45 of the Work Health and Safety Act 2011.
On 22 February 2024, the defendant was convicted by the Downing Centre Local Court and fined a total of $12,000.
Aland B & W Pty Ltd
20 February 2024
On 24 August 2020 a worker was seriously injured when he was struck by a 2-4 tonne bundle of 6 metre steel reinforcement bars being moved by a tower crane.
After a SafeWork NSW investigation the defendant, Aland B & W Pty Ltd, was charged with a breach of section 32/19(1) of the Work Health and Safety Act 2011.
On 20 February 2024, the defendant was convicted by the District Court and fined $225,000.
Peter Whalan

On 19 November 2020 a worker suffered injury when they fell approximately 7 metres through a rear awning roof.
After a SafeWork NSW investigation the defendant Peter Whalan, was charged with a breach of section 32/27(1) of the Work Health and Safety Act 2011.
On 13 February 2024 the defendant was convicted by the District Court was fined $45,000.
PRW Services Pty Ltd
13 February 2024
On 19 November 2020 a worker suffered injury when they fell approximately 7 metres through a rear awning roof.
After a SafeWork NSW investigation the defendant, PRW Services Pty Ltd was charged with a breach of section 32/19(1) of the Work Health and Safety Act 2011.
On 13 February 2024 the defendant was convicted by the District Court and was fined $375,000.
