Law & policy
Workers and employers have legal rights and obligations under work health and safety (WHS), workers compensation, and injury management laws.
Legislation and codes
We administer acts, regulations and codes relating to work health and safety, as well as workers compensation. Information here outlines each piece of legislation and each code.
Employer and business obligations
Employers or businesses (or other PCBUs) have obligations under work health and safety (WHS) laws and have a responsibility to implement these obligations in the workplace.
Worker and visitor obligations
All workers and visitors to a workplace have work health and safety obligations.
Compliance and enforcement
We are responsible to enforcing work health and safety laws and workers compensation laws in NSW. We do this in a range of ways.
Volunteer organisations might be subject to WHS laws if they employ workers, but even if they don’t they still have a duty of care to keep people safe.
